“When patterns are broken, new worlds emerge.” – Juli Kupferberg
As we’ve now inched past mid-year (gasp!), I figured it was an opportune time for a temperature check. Where do you stand with your professional and/or personal goals?
Are you more or less on track, or have you been veering off-piste for a while?
Don’t worry. There’s still time to turn the tide if you’re not quite where you envisioned you’d be by now.
A good place to start is to take a closer look at your patterns. Patterns in behaviour, that is.
You may have heard this quote from Tony Robbins:
“If you do what you’ve always done,
you’ll get what you’ve always gotten.”
So simple. So true. And yet …how often do we actually switch things up to bring about the changes we want to see?
For today, I’d like you to review your patterns, habits, and behaviours and pay close attention to how they either help or hinder your progress and, ultimately, your success.
What do you do that helps?
- What routines do you follow that consistently deliver results?
- What activities do you perform without fail that keep you organised and productive?
- What do you do regularly to improve your business or personal development?
***
Whatever you do that helps you progress your goals, maintain a healthy business and lifestyle, or generally improve consistently in some way, take a moment now to acknowledge and celebrate that.
***
Now, for those pesky areas that don’t seem to budge, dive deeper into what is getting in the way.
What do you do, or not do, that scuppers your success?
- What stops you from bringing in more business or taking care of your most important tasks?
- What gets in the way of you getting the sleep, exercise and/or nutrition you need?
- Where do you cause yourself unnecessary stress?
These are just a few questions to help you examine your habits so you can continue to build upon those that help, and make positive changes to those that hinder.
Action Point: Your action for today is to pick just one area where breaking a particular pattern will make a significant impact on you, your business, your life. Identify what you’ll stop doing, and start doing, to shift the pattern.
Change your patterns, change your results.
Imagine how it will feel to achieve what you’re really after with positive, healthy, new patterns in place.
Don’t delay, let’s go!
Share your results and how you get on, I’d love to hear!
P.S. If you, or someone you know, needs assistance in breaking some old time management or organisational patterns, let’s have a chat. This is how I help my clients, so don’t sit there struggling when we can turn it around!
